Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist Shanty Sweets is an eclectic singer, writer and composer, whose sound is a rich tapestry serving a bridge between generations and eras of Roots-Reggae, Ska and Jazz.  Shanty operates as a versatile bandleader and curator offering three distinct, high-impact performance acts tailored to fit your venue’s specific vibe, staging, and budget: * Act 1: The Jazz & Ska-Fusion Band: A sophisticated live ensemble (lead vocals, bass, keys, drums, background singer, and a dynamic horn section) performing classic jazz standards like 'Misty', 'All of Me', and 'My Blue Heaven' inspired by Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, and Ella Fitzgerald, seamlessly fused with upbeat, vintage ska rhythms from Toots and The Maytals and Amy Winehouse. * Act 2: The Top Ranking (Reggae & Ska Band): A full, premium 6-piece live band experience delivering infectious roots rhythms. This powerhouse set features my award-winning original music alongside iconic covers of reggae and ska royalty like Phyllis Dillon, Bob Marley, Millie Small, Dennis Brown, Mighty Diamonds, Jacob Miller, Keith and Tex, and Toots and The Maytals. It also includes our signature reggae renditions of classic jazz and neo-soul hits—flipping tracks from Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, India.Arie, Sade and other artist as mentioned in act 1, into heavy, groove-driven reggae tracks. * Act 3: Shanty Sweets & DJ Black Heart iNiVERSAL (Duet Act): A compact, high-energy sound system showcase featuring only myself on live vocals alongside DJ Black Heart iNiVERSAL. This intimate, dynamic setup delivers a powerful soundscape that is perfectly optimized for streamlined budgets, limited staging, or closer crowd interactions.
